In the morning when you are rushed and trying your best to make it to work on time, doing a full face beat is probably not an option. You may not be going for the total bare face either though. So what do you do? You develop a work makeup routine. This means you need a few work makeup must haves.
This routine will focus on two main goals: getting you out the door on time while looking chic and ready to tackle your day. You can definitely achieve this by practicing a bit and deciding what quick fixes will have the biggest impact.
Let’s use myself, I know that I will look awake and naturally beautiful if I am able to conceal my under eye darkness, fill in my brows, add a bit of color and bronzer to my cheeks and then finish it off with a couple coats of mascara and gloss. Being able to get these steps down to a quick 15 minute routine has been the real trial but I’ve actually mastered it.
Some days I still roll into work bare faced but that is mostly because my skin just needs a break from time to time. Let’s discuss some work makeup must haves so we can all look effortlessly chic and prepared at our place of employment.
1. A great mascara
This is super important. Having a fabulous mascara will make the difference between you looking groggy and you looking bright and awake. Be sure to choose a mascara that is able to add some volume and intensity to your eyes without looking clumpy. My favorite inexpensive mascara is the Maybelline Volum’ Express The Rocket Mascara. It’s build able and gives my lashes a beautiful natural fullness.
2. Quality under eye concealer AND setting powder
This step makes the biggest difference in my appearance. Lightening up my under eye area brightens my entire face and that is a real game changer. When you apply under eye concealer make sure you are using the right tone that is able to cancel out your under eye discoloration. Also make sure that you are setting the product with a powder so that everything stays crease free. I use the LA Girl Pro Concealer and NYX Set it Don’t Fret it powder.
3. Natural blush and a sun kissed bronzer
These products will give your face the bit of color it needs to make you look all glowy and beautiful with minimal effort. Go for a shimmery warm toned bronzer and subtle cheek color so that your look is natural yet effective.
4. A great neutral lip
Since you probably won’t have time during the day to constantly check the mirror, go for a neutral lip shade. Wearing a bold lip like a red or pink will mean you need to do touch ups and check to make sure the color hasn’t smudged off. My favorite lip color is by NYX and it is the Butter Glass in the shade Madeleine
With these work makeup must haves you are sure to be chic at work with little to no effort at all. Try it out.
