Recently, I tried Shea Moisture’s Curl and Style Milk and I loved it! This is the second Shea Moisture product I’ve used as a styler. Read below to hear my thoughts on the product and to see if I would purchase it again!

Usually I use Bel Nuovo CoCo Castor Pudding when I do my twist outs, but the day I washed my hair, I realized I didn’t have any left! That called for a quick trip to the drugstore to find something that would hopefully give me the twist-out I wanted. After debating, I decided to go with Shea Moisture’s Curl and Style Milk.

For me, it’s hard to find a twist-out crème that provides shine, hold and definition. Usually, I either find a product that provides excellent shine, but no hold, or a product that provides definition and hold, but no shine (or I find one with all three, but my twist-out just ends up DRY). I’ve used Shea Moisture’s Curl and Style Milk once before and the hold was great, but I remember my hair not feeling as moisturized as I’m used to. This time, I decided to try something different to ensure a twist-out I could be satisfied with.

I tried Shea Moisture’s Curl and Style Milk using a leave-in conditioner from the African Pride Dream Kids line, and Organix’s Moroccan argon Oil underneath. The next day, my definition was absolutely amazing, but for some reason, my twist-out was dry and the hold wasn’t entirely there. I had to put my hair in a puff by the end of the week.

I tried a few things differently next day. I co-washed my hair using As I Am’s Coconut CoWash, used smaller sections and more product for each twist. I realized that if my sections were too big, the twists would start to unravel, and if I didn’t use a lot of product, my hair would just soak it up.

The next day, I was more than pleased with my results. Not only were the twists defined and shiny, but they definitely had hold and were moisturized! The twists lasted for an entire week and then some! Now I know that I have to use a bit more product for each twist to ensure moisture.

Would I buy Shea Moisture’s Curl and Style Milk Again? Probably. Drugstores usually have buy one get one free sales on Shea Moisture products, and this is a product that isn’t hard to find. I would also love to try to the twisting creams from the other brands of Shea Moisture as well, to see if I love those any better than I like the Curl and Style Milk from the Coconut and Hibiscus Line.
