It’s that time of the year again! The sun has taken a “break” and if you’re in an area where real winter occurs, hats and scarves are a must! This happens to be my favorite time of the year because I feel my inner fashion diva comes alive! LOL I get to throw my sandals and sundresses to the back of my closet and pull out my fab cardigans and leggings. Who doesn’t love a fabulous scarf with a moto jacket, right? Or how about the gorgeous rider boots adorned with gold or silver hardware? I am all about the fall and winter fashion but we can’t leave out our hair! Here are some of my favorite hair accessories for the cold months that are sure to turn heads in grocery line! Check them out!
Now once upon a time, this accessory was only worn by the “skater boys” and the “street guys” but the beanie has taken on a totally different look! I’m a huge fan of grabbing a beanie to complete a Simple – Chic Look, (especially on the weekends). I’m in love with this particular one that features a simple birdcage in the front (it’s so perfect)! The beanie is also perfect when you want to play up your androgynous side. Add some loose corn rolls or 2 strand twists to you hair, grab a pair of your favorite hoop earrings, and throw on your beanie! Voila! You’re ready, Hunty!
This happens to be the hair accessory I reach for the most! Turbans are so chic and easily able to transition from one season to the next, depending on the material they are made from, there are so many options when it comes to wearing turbans. I often grab one to wear when I’m headed on a makeup gig to keep my long, Virgin Indian hair from Sheena’s Hair Emporium out of my face, but even if you’re wearing a short hair style, the turban will be a great pick for you! Check out SHE for awesome, colorful turban headbands that are sure to impress you and thank me later!
So headbands are awesome year- round (I’m a major headband addict) I especially love to accessorize long hair by adding them to create a “halo effect”. Of course, the floral headband craze has seemingly died down, (unless you’re between the ages of 1mo-10 years old) LOL. This picture features a young woman who has created her style around her headband. While it still features a floral aspect, it’s not too much and would be perfect for Thanksgiving or Christmas dinner festivities with the family. Another great thing about the headband is that they aren’t hard to come by! Stop by the hair accessories aisle the next time you’re in your local Target or Wal-Mart and see what you can find!
This timeless piece has been around for centuries and never seems to lose its classic flare. Its’ another accessory that was once a general male piece and has become more of a staple in women’s closets than men today! The fedora has been worn by greats such as Josephine Baker, Alicia Keys, and Beyonce. It’s great for the colder months because it’s generally made from heavy, quality materials, but it’s also awesome because it instantly adds character to your seemingly dull hairstyle. By adding a fedora to your week old curls, you get a brand new style that revives the look! I also like light-weight fedoras for casual days when you just want to throw your hair back in a messy low ponytail and keep it moving! This is a definite must! Check your local Thrift Store for inexpensive vintage fedoras. Forever 21 is also awesome for “Fedora Inspired” hats that won’t cost you an arm and a leg.
These were just some of my personal fall and winter faves that I can’t wait to add to my hair wardrobe. Of course, the options are countless and if you follow the runway trends, you may find even more chic and fashionable ideas! If you don’t think you have some of these items, don’t get disappointed! Raid your mom, sister, boyfriend/husband’s closet (That’s what I always do, LOL)! I’m sure you’d be surprised at what you find! Hair accessories are all about how YOU rock them so take chances and play with ideas! I hope this was helpful! As always, stay BreezynFAB!
