When you apply your makeup, do you feel like you achieve that flawless finish that you were going for or does your makeup come up short and miss the mark? Well this could be for a number of reasons and we are going to touch on a few of the issues that might be keeping you from flawless makeup.
1. Skin care is lacking
In order for your makeup to be flawless and lay beautifully on your face, you have to start with a nice smooth canvas. By canvas I mean skin. If your skin is covered in a layer of dead skin cells, oil and not properly prepared no amount of makeup will be able to give you that flaw free look you are going for.
That is why maintaining a skin care routine is so important with exfoliating topping the list. Exfoliation removes that grimy rough layer of dead cells that can build up if not scrubbed away. So make sure you are exfoliating a few times a week to keep your skin nice and smooth.
2. Improper tools
Having the right tools can make inexpensive products look like the real deal. If there is any place for you to invest a bit of coin in, it is definitely this area. Get some quality brushes. You may not be able to get an entire set at the same time but invest in the key pieces like a foundation brush, concealer brush/sponge, and a couple of eye shadow brushes. If you at least have those, you should be able to beat your face pretty good. Proper tools will make applying makeup like foundation, bronzer, and blush much easier because you’ll be able to precisely apply each product without missing the mark or unintentionally mixing the products because you used one brush to get the entire job done.
3. Prime your face
Using a primer on your face and even on your lids can make a world of difference in your makeup results. Primer gives your makeup something to hold on to without slipping and sliding throughout the day. It can also control your oil production which would also cause your makeup to look runny and greasy. When you prime your lids, it prevents creasing throughout the day and allows your makeup to survive the madness. Primer on your lids can also provide a base for your eye makeup allowing the true colors to show up without your lid color showing through.
4. Setting your makeup
Once you have applied your makeup, you have to set it in place and make sure it doesn’t get ruined throughout the day. Without setting your makeup, you will literally find your foundation and other makeup smudging right off of your face throughout the day. It will be a huge mess. You could also become extremely oily without any powder to keep your oil production at bay. Setting your makeup keeps everything where it is supposed to be and keeps your skin looking flawless without creasing or grease slicks.
